Facilities and Support
Students who register for a postgraduate research degree in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences have access to the full range of student services and facilities available on campus. In addition they benefit from a number of supports specific to the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. The primary University and Faculty supports and services are outlined below.

Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Graduate Research Centre
The Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Graduate Research Centre was established in 1993 for the purpose of ensuring that the Faculty’s research students had a “home” and an identity, and to provide the services and infrastructure necessary for their studies. It is administered from Ground Floor in the Foundation Building and its research areas are located on the Ground Floor and First Floor of the Foundation Building as well as C1056 of the Main Building.
The Co-ordinating Secretary of the Centre is the primary point of contact for new postgraduate research students. She introduces new students to the facilities of the Centre and organises access to desks (subject to availability), computers, photocopying facilities and conference travel funding. She also handles the day to day administration of the Centre, the acquisition and maintenance of equipment, the flow of information to students about research events and funding opportunities and student appointments with the Assistant Dean Research.

Code of Conduct
In order to maintain an appropriate study environment, postgraduate students are requested to adhere to the following guidelines: – endeavour at all times to keep the noise level to a minimum – if using headphones, ensure the volume is such that other students will not be distracted – avoid meeting with students in the research area – keep work areas reasonably tidy – on completion, remove all property from desk – return desk keys, door keys and ving cards to the Co-ordinating Secretary when leaving.
